Al-Shabaab urges JNIM to step up attacks in the Sahel

The radical group known as jama’ad Nusratul Islaam Walmuslimiin (JNIM) which operates in West Africa has received a word of encouragement from their counterparts in the Horn of Africa. 
JNIM which is an Al-Qaida affiliate have of late intensified attacks against government forces in Mali,Niger and Burkina Faso. Al-Shabaab have put out a statement today 31st January 2020, praising and congratulating al Qaeda's other major branch in Africa, calling them to double their efforts against the French forces and the Sahel governments. 
"We encourage you to stay on the path of jihad and strengthen the blows to the crusaders and the apostates wherever you see them, and the victory is near, and then the mujahedeen from all over the world will meet at alAqsa” read part of the statement. Al-Shabaab have also congratulated JNIM for “their resilience” amidst an onslaught from mightier forces that “have invaded Mali” 
 
The statement carried by Al-Shabaab’s Al-kataaib media wing was written in Arabic.

Al-Shabaab assassinates a Banana vendor

The radical group Al-Shabaab that operates mainly in Somalia has claimed responsibility for the assassination of a trader who sells Bananas. The deceased who was named as Hilowle Aboor was a famous trader at Boocle market in Mogadishu, Somalia where he sold bananas, the same market that he was shot dead on February 4, 2019. Al-Shabaab claimed that Mr. Aboor was an undercover officer for the Somali government. The security agencies did not comment about the claims of Al-Shabaab and whether one of their men was killed. The group also claimed responsibility for another assassination that happened at the same night but did not give any explanation as to who he was and why they killed him. The terror group carries out assassinations in Mogadishu almost on daily basis.
